I have been a post-doctoral research fellow in Basin Structure Group since 2014. I obtained my PhD in Structural Geology in Royal Holloway University of London, where I investigated the structural evolution of the Niger Delta from 2008 to 2011. Before and after my post-graduate studies I gained more than 10 years of experience working in the oil industry as a development-and-exploration geoscientist in different companies such as:

• Repsol 1999-2005: seismic interpreter.


• Pan American Energy 2005-2008: seismic interpreter.


• ecoPetrol (ICP) 2013-2014: external consultant – team leader of the Structural Group.
 

My current research interest arises from my motivation to understand the fundamental aspects that control the structural changes in different geological settings. My most recent research focuses on the evolution of compressional and inversion tectonics in which the structural component plays a key role in the hydrocarbon-system occurrence. The researches I have conducted in compressional and inversion settings cover from deepwater to subareal fold-and-thrust belts, not only the regional evolutionary aspects but also the individual structure formation.
My must recent investigation focused in the evolution of the fold-and-thrust belt in the Western Niger Delta. For that particular research I applied tools like, seismic interpretation, attribute analysis, geomechanical structural restorations, and analogue modelling amongst other techniques. My current research project is ‘3D Thermokinematic Restoration of the Eastern Cordillera and Foothill of Colombia’. In this subareal inverted fold-and-thrust belt in where the growth strata is mostly eroded I apply thermochronology to relate thermal variations to 3D kinematic models.
