Currently I am a PhD student, supervised by Douglas Paton, Taija Torvela and Emma Bramham.  My research focusses on applying seismic forward modelling to address interpretation challenges in orogenic fronts.

During my undergraduate course I developed a keen interest in fieldwork, completing my mapping project in the structurally complex Cantabrian Mountains, northern Spain.  This led to my first role as an Exploration Field Geologist in the minerals industry.  After living and working in Tanzania and Sierra Leone I returned to the UK to study the MSc Structural Geology with Geophysics at Leeds.

During the masters programme I greatly enjoyed the combination of a quantitative apporach to geological problems and consideration of basin development from reservoir to plate scales.

My PhD is focussed on addressing uncertainty in the interpretation of orogenic fronts.  Investigating the geometry and evolution of orogenic fronts as observed in seismic data and the field.

Areas of interest:

  • Structural geology and geomechanics

  • Controls on fluid flow in the subsurface

  • Seismic forward modelling of complex structures

  • Fracture analysis and prediction

  • Hydrocarbon exploration, appraisal and production

I have developed and currently deliver lectures on drilling & geomechanics, geomechanics in unconventional resources and reservoir modelling.  These are presented as part of the MSc Structural Geology with Geophysics and MSc Exploration Geophysics courses.

Additionally, I demonstrate for modules including; Geology for Petroleum Engineers, Reservoir Engineering for Petroleum Engineers, Applied Structural Models, Geodynamics, Geomechanics and Sequence Stratigraphy and Hydrocarbon Implications.
